Machine Upgrades Priority

Machine upgrades decide whether Drink Factory Simulator feels like a smooth bottling plant or a comedy of spilled syrup. This page ranks stations and upgrade paths after you leave pure tutorial mode. Pair it with Early Game Priority for the first spending wave, then return here whenever a new order tier exposes a choke point.

Core systems you are upgrading against: Analysis Mode recipe discovery (ratios totaling 100%), the production line, orders and deliveries, economy pressure, day/night pacing, workers, and machine repair. Early Access is planned for August 13, 2026 from Agosto Game Studio and PlayWay, with online co-op for you plus up to three friends.

Ranking legend

  • S — Buy when affordable — Fixes the most common throughput or uptime failures.
  • A — Strong after S — Big gains once the line is not collapsing.
  • B — Situational — Great for specific recipes or co-op roles.
  • C — Delay — Luxury or late-curve polish.

Ranks assume a healthy recipe set from Recipe Discovery and a sane layout from Production Line. If your formulas are wrong, no filler upgrade saves the shift.

Mixer and Analysis support — S / A

Mixing accuracy and speed sit near the top because every SKU starts here. Prioritize upgrades that reduce failed batches and shorten the gap between a discovered 100% ratio and a stable production recipe. Analysis Mode itself is a discovery tool, not a money printer — fund the mixer that can reproduce what you learned, then stop tinkering mid-order rush.

If you play co-op, assign one player to research while another watches mixer output; see Co-op Setup. Solo players should treat mixer reliability as S-tier until defect rates drop.

Conveyors and handoffs — S

A fast mixer feeding a clogged belt is wasted capital. Conveyor upgrades that reduce jams, improve spacing, and keep bottles moving to fillers usually outrank cosmetic floor expansions. Watch the line during peak order windows described in Orders and Deliveries. If packages pile up before the dock, your next dollar belongs on movement, not a prettier mixer skin.

Filling and carbonation / liquid finish — S / A

Fillers often become the mid-game bottleneck once recipes diversify. Upgrade paths that raise fill speed without spiking spill waste are S-tier. Secondary finish modules (flavor injectors, chillers, or specialty nozzles when available in EA) are A or B depending on which SKUs your Recipe Checklist shows as profitable.

Do not max a specialty filler for a drink you barely sell. Use the Economy Planner to confirm margin before chasing niche hardware.

Packing, labeling, and pallet ready — A

Packing upgrades shine when delivery timers start failing despite healthy liquid output. Labels, seals, and crate staging reduce last-meter chaos. In multiplayer, one friend can live at packing while others keep upstream stations fed — covered in the Multiplayer Hub. Solo, packing is often your second S/A purchase after conveyors.

Workers and station assists — A / B

Hiring and upgrading workers multiplies uptime if wages fit the books. Early worker spend is A-tier when you cannot physically babysit every jam during day/night cycles. It drops to B if your economy is red — a idle payroll during a quiet night hurts more than a slow belt. Cross-check with Getting Started habits before overstaffing.

Repair and maintenance kits — S

Broken machines erase upgrade value. Keep repair capability high enough that a single failure does not strand a full order batch. Tools, spare parts storage near critical stations, and any durability upgrades belong in the S band for solo runs. Co-op can demote this slightly if one player is a dedicated wrench — still never leave it in C.

Storage, tanks, and ingredient buffers — B

Buffers smooth night shortages and delivery spikes but do not create demand. Buy them after the line can actually process what you store. Overbuilding tanks before you have stable recipes locks cash that should have gone to fillers or packing.

Dock, delivery staging, and future logistics — B / C

Staging space near outbound orders is B when penalties sting. Speculative spending for planned later features — retail storefronts, open-world trucks, port and airport routes — is C until those systems ship. Track them on the Roadmap and Early Access pages so you do not gold-plate a dock for content that is months out.

Suggested purchase loops

  1. Stabilize mixer + conveyor (S).
  2. Secure repair path (S).
  3. Lift filler to match mixer output (S/A).
  4. Upgrade packing to protect delivery SLAs (A).
  5. Add workers or buffers only when margins allow (A/B).
  6. Specialty modules and future logistics last (B/C).

Re-run this loop after each major recipe unlock. A new carbonated line can make yesterday’s filler A-tier into today’s emergency S-tier.

Prologue, Demo, and main app notes

Practice the same priorities in the free Prologue (first four levels, app 4738020) and Demo (4341340) so muscle memory transfers to main Early Access (3913840). Exact upgrade trees may expand during the planned 6–12 month EA window — revisit this page after patches listed under Updates Hub.

Hardware reality check

Factory complexity can stress older PCs when particles, workers, and multiplayer sync stack. Confirm you meet System Requirements (Windows 10, i7-6700K or Ryzen 3 1200X class CPU, 4GB RAM, GTX 960 4GB+, 8GB storage) before blaming “bad upgrades” for hitching that is actually frame time.

Return to the Upgrade Priority Hub for the overview, then chain into Guides Hub, Review Overview, Controls, Prologue Walkthrough, Tools Hub, Links Hub, and Official Links.

There are no official codes or cheats — progress comes from ratios, uptime, and smart capital. Spend like a plant manager, not a window shopper, and your machine tiers will stay aligned with real profit.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about recipes, factory lines, and Early Access.

What is the first machine upgrade I should buy?

Usually mixer reliability or conveyor flow — whichever is currently starving the next station — plus a repair path so breakdowns cannot erase the gain.

When do packing upgrades beat filler upgrades?

When liquid output is fine but delivery timers fail. If bottles never reach the dock on time, packing and staging outrank another filler tick.

Should I upgrade for future truck deliveries now?

No. Open-world trucks, port, and airport routes are planned later. Keep dock spend modest until those systems actually land in Early Access.

Does co-op change machine tier ranks?

Roles shift who babysits which station, but shared bottlenecks still rule. Upgrade the choke point the whole lobby feels, not four personal favorites.

Are there cheat codes to unlock upgrades?

No official codes or cheats. Earn cash through recipes, orders, and efficient lines.
